After writing the post where I said I was going to concentrate on German Battleships. Things may have changed and this why as a new player you need to try all the nations and all the classes.
German Battleships are the brawlers in the game and while they can be up close and personal and have better than most secondaries having gotten up to Tier 6 the Bayern its become apparent it’s quite difficult to pull off this strategy at least up until this point. Having spoken to many streamers and people that I have come across in the game they said it doesn’t work effectively until the Bismark at Tier 8 and even then it’s difficult to do a secondary build like I am wanting to. So with that in mind, I thought about what else I could try.
What that was the complete opposite of what I had been trying to play in the destroyers. I had decided on Battleship because it gave me time and the reason for choosing the German Battleship was the secondaries which mean to a certain point I didn’t need to be as good at aiming. That said once I tried to pull off this strategy I thought why not try the other classes. To me, cruisers would make sense being the middle of the road but I decided to try Destroyer because it was the one role I thought wouldn’t suit me being slow with controls and stuff like that being put into the fastest class of ship didn’t make sense. However the fact you can hide better factored in.
At the moment I am enjoying playing Destroyer in tier 5 and 6, putting better performances in personally than I was in Battleships that said I haven’t completely given up on them and I am likely to go back to them just to try and get to the Bismark. The reason for that is because I do want to give the secondary build the best chance before I give up the dream completely. That is the beauty of a free to play game though is that you dart from strategy without worrying if you’re doing it right and wrong. Especially at these tiers because your just playing normals where for the most part you don’t see a lot of salt which has been my experience anyway.
