It’s a new year and new beginnings. Over 2019 I let everything get on top of me again and ended up letting go of my blogging. What not many of you would know was that I started reading more regularly for the first part of the year and started a new blog just for logging my progress.
I had started on Total Reach but thought it deserved its platform but after reflecting I thought why not bring all my content back to Total Reach? There was no reason not to really as it was on Wordpress.com and the only people interacting with the posts seemed to be bots liking the reviews. So with that in mind when watching a Linux YouTuber he mentioned Static Site Generators mainly Hugo as such I thought why not give it ago.
Here is where I am at I am going to leave my WordPress installation up for the next couple of months so the content is still there but slowly move it across to Hugo while adding more content. Once I feel happy with Hugo I will replace the Wordpress install with a Static Site.
Why I hear you ask? I realised that Wordpress is great but its overkill for what I need and if I can learn how to use another technology while I am looking how I can make my website more efficient and secure I am going to take it. It sounds like I have written off Wordpress completely and I haven’t its a great platform but I want to see how the two very different technologies work and which suits me better hence why the move will be over months or even the year and even in a way I could use either platforms.
