Chasing the Green Fairy by Melanie Karsak is the second instalment of The Airship Racing Chronicles carries on from Chasing the Star Garden. Lilly has got herself clean and she’s racing well and could take the championship in the final race of the season.
Chasing the Green Fairy starts with Lilly being in a good place, she has distanced herself from Bryant to make things work with Sal because that’s who she has decided is good for and her whos she loves. As the end of the season draws to a close she just has to win the last race to win the season and become champion. However, there is some sabotage to her ship and some crushing news for her to handle that takes her spiralling down the opium track again.
The twist and turns in the story take her down to the darkest parts of her past and leave her interacting with some ancient ruins. In which she then finds herself coming into contact with some Druids that have a request of her. Which keeps her grounded and gives her some serious responsibilities. Along with needing to fix her ship and win the race.
Overall I gave Chasing the Green Fairy 4/5 from what I remember I enjoyed this instalment because you got to find out why Lilly was like she was. The circumstances that drove her to dwell in the darkest places of Victorian Britain and still be one of the best Airship Pilots. I would highly recommend this book and if it wasn’t for the fact I got it Kindle Unlimited at the time I would have happily reread the book to give a better review.
