Reflections by Seanan McGuire is the second book in the Indexing series and continues from Indexing. Henry and the team are now being assessed on whether they are fit to work with each other now that Henry is active as it could in balance the team and is definitely against ATI rules.
Reflections was well paced but also a little clunky at times where you the cases didn’t matter as much as they did in Indexing because you were more interested in what was going with the team as opposed to the actual cases they were involved in. That being said though you did get a real glimpse or better understanding of how the fairy tale system worked along with ATI and how they governed and tried to control the narrative to keep the two worlds apart as best they can.
At times the ATI seemed to stretched for what the team was going through and as such meant that you saw some stories where Henry wasn’t about and Sloane took more of the main role. This was good for me because I am a huge fan of Sloane and think she could be book or two on her own. For me, her character makes these books. The other character that I was pleased to see come back in about halfway through was Henry’s brother so not just did you get more of Sloane’s story you understood the relationship between Henry and her brother more.
Reflections got 4/5 from me I enjoyed the book it read more of a novel than a series to me, unlike the first book which felt more episodic. That being said it just made the book better for me and look forward to seeing if there is going to be more to come from this series.
