The Postman Always Dies Twice by Zara Keane is the second book in the Movie Club Mysteries Series. It follows on from P is for Poison and sees Maggie Doyle pulled into two investigations where she is still not really wanted but used as a sounding board that then sees some interesting changes in relationships and character development.
The Postman Always Dies Twice again focuses on Maggie and she is brought in for her expertise in a situation in the hotel on Whispering Island. Where she also finds herself being the sounding board for the Sergent in town Liam Reynolds. Maggie finds herself having to protect the ones she cares for while seeking justice. The Postman Always Dies Twice also has some interesting twists within the storylines that were a complete shock compare to P for Poison the cases were constantly changing.
The stand out characters in The Postman Always Dies is the relationship between Lenny and Maggie for me at least because you see how they rely on each other. While they might have been really close friends as teenagers, they haven’t seen each other in years and haven’t stayed in contact but have just slotted into their previous state even though so much time has passed. Leaving the notion that your true good friends no matter how much time has passed it won’t matter really feeling like it’s the case.
I gave The Postman Always Dies Twice a 4/5 on Goodreads I managed to finish this book in two days and have to say the mystery kept me on the tender hooks. Really encouraging me to read more. Rightly or wrongly as well made me route for Maggie and Lenny to end up together at some point with how good the characters are together but knowing it will never happen.
